Lakes
You pick the time and lake, we provide the gear. Greenlick Lake and Bridgeport Dam are about 10 minutes from our shop. Acme Dam, Virgin Run Lake, and Lake Donegal are also not far. Fishing, bird watching, Geocaching, or just paddling around, there is no better way to see the area's beautiful lakes than in a canoe or kayak.
The Youghiogheny River
A nice trip for the area is to put in at Connellsville and take out 5.5 miles downriver in Dawson. This trip can take two hours or all day depending on how much you paddle. There are fishing, bird watching, and geocaching sites along the way. The small mouth bass fishing is incredible but you can also fish for sauger, catfish, crappie and trout. There is an amazing diversity of bird life along the route including heron, hawks, and waterfowl. If you rent a handheld GPS unit, you will know how far you have traveled and how much further you have to go and there are geocaches near the river that may be of interest.
Guided Trips and Tours
Canoes can seat one or two guests with a guide. Additional boats are welcome to tag along and livery service is available. For the Fly fisherman, we have a canoe with outriggers so you can stand and fish. The outriggers also work great for the birder with high-end optics. We take tours past the Old Overholt Distillery along the river and we will even take you on a fall foliage voyage you will never forget. Give us a call and see what we have to offer in stability and comfort. For a small fee we will even provide a meal.
